Joost Invites - You know, for friends.

Guess what kiddies, the days of limited Joost invites are over.

Joost for friends

Joost has just released a new version called, Joost for Friends, and the invite limitation is gone.

We will have a new kind of contest for those who don’t know anyone else who can give them an invite.

Post a comment that has to do with Joost that will make me laugh.

If I laugh, I will send you an invite.

Thats it.

There is no time limit and as long as Joost allows me to send invites and you make me laugh, I will keep sending them out.

Good luck and happy commenting.

Joost Diss Idol - Live Results Show!

And the winner of the 3rd and final Joost invite give away is…

earn your joost invite

Zach

Jack was the winner of the second contest and therefore was the judge and jury for this one.

Here are some of Zach’s entries as well as some words from Jack.

Zach submitted many ‘yo mama’ disses that I enjoyed very much including,

  • Yo Mama’s so stupid, even with Joost, it took her 90 minutes to watch 60
    minutes.

  • Yo mama so stupid when she saw the NC-17 (under 17 not admitted) sign on
Joost, she went home and got 16 friends.

Congrats to Zach.

Second place goes to Lloyd with the following entry:

  • One. Cut a hole in the box…
Two. Put your JOOST in that boooxxx!!
Three. Make her open that box

I put my JOOST in a box for you. Why don’t you tell your momma to beta test it.

Thanks again to everyone who participated.

The Winner, with The Best Joost Pick-Up Line, is… Drumroll please…

Ok guys,

The jury (Matt) has deliberated and a winer has been chosen.

Jack Freeman is the winner of the 2nd Joost Invite Contest.

Joost

He has not only won the invite but will also serve as the Judge and creator of the 3rd contest.

Jack,

Send me the email addy you want to use for the invite and let me know what you would like to do for the 3rd contest. Here are some Ideas. (Joost Invite Contest #1 Finalists)

Here is what Matt had to say.

Not only did Jack bring quality, but he brought them in multiples as well.

This was a tough one to beat considering Stephen stepped it up early. I only wish Stephen had come back. I would like to have seen a face-off. Melissa was definitely in there too. It could have been a battle royal to the death.

So here are my favs:

    From Jack

  • Would you like to share my bandwidth? I have a really fat JoostLine.
  • Come on, I know ya wanna Joost. I promise its bigger than my iPod Nano
  • Joosting with yo makes my CPU come out of hibernate
  • Baby, lets go in the back and Joost. I‚ll have you screaming louder than dial-up.
    From Stephen

  • Hey baby, how about we go back to my place and Joost? I‚ll have you screaming - Web two-point-OHH - all night long.
    From Melissa

  • I wish I was cross-eyed so I could Joost you twice.
  • I was hoping your Joost wouldn’t block my pop-up
  • You have great hardware but to make Joost work properly, I have to install my software which has to be transferred from my USB stick. Can I stick it to you so we can begin with the installation process?
From Valzi but only because it scares me.

  • I like to give myself rug burns and then smell the skin. JOOST! Baby.

Thanks again to everyone who participated. What a blast. :)

There is still one more chance to win an invite -
Episode 3 - Revenge of the Diss

PS. I have a good friend who may be continuing our little game with 3 invites of his own. I’ll keep you posted.

This Just In - Dilbert’s Idiot Boss Starts A Blog

I know you are waiting for the results of the second Joost invite contest but I came across this this comic as part of my daily funnies and felt compelled to share it. I’m sure I wont be the only blogger to do so today.

Dilbert's idiot boss starts a blogFrom Dilbert.com

Like most Dilbert strips, this is especially funny because it is so true. It’s near and dear to my heart because frankly, helping people start and participate in online conversation is what I do for a living.

Joost contest finalists and results coming right up.

PS. While we are sharing comic strips, here is another great one from my friend Adam Cohen at Mosetoon.com.

Finalists for Joost Invite Contest #1.

Last week I received 3 Invites for Joost. In order to find the Joost invitations good homes I planed a series of contests.

For the first contest I asked you to come up with a contest idea to give away invite #2.

You guys had some great ideas but, alas, there can be only one winner.

Here are the finalists. Only one of these lucky contestants will win our prize of the first of 3 Joost invites.

  1. Matt Haverkamp with,

How about 5 ways to pick up women or a dude (depending on your tastes) using the word Joost?

  2. Stephen Ward with,

Here’s an idea. Have contestants write blog posts explaining, in as much imaginative (i.e. made up) detail as possible, the etymology of the word Joost. The most creative etymology wins the invite.

  3. Chris Said,

The contest for the second invite should be, “Whoever has the best idea of how they’re going to give away their invites, should they win you invite.”

Thanks to everyone else for all the great ideas!

So, now the moment you have all been waiting for…

Ladies and Gentelmen,

Boys and Girls,

Children of all ages,

The winer of the first Joost Invitation is…

I Just Recieved 3 Joost Invites - Want one? Earn it!

Guess what kids?

I have 3 invites to Joost to give away.

Well, I’m not going to just give them away, you will have to earn them.

In order to place each invite into a deserving home, we will do 3 back to back contests right here on the blog.

joost.png

The first contest is for invite #1.

Here are the rules –

Put your ideas for what the contest should be for the second invite in the comments of this post before Sunday at Midnight.

I will pick the best idea and announce the winner on Monday Morning. The winer will have their idea featured on my next post (as the actual contest for the next invite) and will be the featured judge of that contest.

That’s it. Pretty simple.

Good luck and may the best meme win. ;)

UPDATE:

PS: If you comment “I want an Invite!” or any derivative that doesn’t include your idea for the next contest, I will delete your comment. It was cute and funny at first, but now it’s just annoying. If you want an invite the easy way, just go buy one on EBay.

Context changes everything

Just watched SNL on TiVo.

Most days, I cant wait for the digital shorts, in some cases fast forwarding the rest of the show just to see it. I have been an even bigger fan of SNL since Sandberg and the Lonely Island Kids joined the crew.

This day, the short was “Dear Sister”. A dark, funny and, because of recent news at Va Tech, awkward story of senseless gun violence and an infectiously repetitive song.

I wanted to laugh, it’s funny, but I couldn’t. It was just too weird.

So, I did what any other blogger would do, I set out to find someone else who shared my feelings.

Strangely, I only found one post on the subject. That and the 615 comments on the short in YouTube running the gamut from sensitivity retardation to hypocritical snobbery.

I wonder how much press this odd coincidence will get.

Will it stay small and quiet or will it become a main stream issue?

How many people will try to connect this skit to todays events?

How will it affect people who see now for the first time, and think it is a spoof on the VA Tech shooting?

What happens when the context changes around your content after you set it loose into the world?

Thoughts?
